Up and Running

I'm baaack!

We just got the internet again and I am so thrilled. I really was going through a bit of withdrawals. It really does make life easier. Isn't it strange that even when I was in high school the internet was unknown. Crazy.

Well, life here is still busy but so good. We are working at the boxes and getting all of our lives back into place. We have made a pretty big dent but are still working on it. The master bedroom looks like a bomb hit it. I wish I could focus on just unpacking but I have regular life to attend to as well. I have to do laundry, dishes, and take care of the kids. I am really loving the area. Every time we drive somewhere I am able to point out the cows and other farm animals to Evan. This time of year the trees are so gorgeous and it is so beautiful.

We are remote but at the same time pretty close to everything we need. It takes about 15 minutes to get to Lebanon or Palmyra which are both good size towns. We've got Walmart super center, Kmart, and normal grocery stores. If I drive a bit further I can get to a Target and an Old Navy. We also have a mall in Lebanon.

The church is about 15 minutes away and it smack in the middle of farmland. There are silos right across the street. It smells a bit of manure when the wind blows but other than that it is quite quaint. The ward is really great and extremely friendly. I have enjoyed it so far. We have already made several friends in the ward as well.

Our neighborhood is also quite friendly and we even got cookies from our neighbors yesterday. It is a new development so there are a lot of younger families around. We are right across the street from the elementary school and the post office is directly behind us.

Anyway, life is good. We like it here and are so happy to finally be in our new home. I don't think we will move for a long long time. PErhaps we will be here forever. I could be okay with that. We'll see.

I'm back to posting and will post a few times a week.

Getting back to normal

Ok, so things are still crazy here in PA. I am currently writing from a new friend's house who I called after realizing the library closed early tonight. I was jonesing for my internet fix. Ryan gets it at work but I haven't had it for over a week! Anyway, this will be quick since I don't have much time.

We are moved in! Glory be! We love everything...our ward, our house, our neighborhood, the fall leaves, the small town feel. It is just a great fit for us so far. I'm sure we'll find things to complain about soon.

I'll write more next week on Oct 30. The glorious day we get our DSL connection!

The walk through

So today we had the walk through for our new house and it looks gorgeous! I can hardly believe it will soon be ours. Everything looks so great. I am in love with all the closet and storage space. I hardly know what I will put in all of them, but I'm sure I will easily find uses for them. We even have a large closet under the stairs so Harry Potter is welcome to visit anytime. We told the realtors today that we are using that for Evan's room. I'm pretty sure they knew we were kidding....

It will be a hectic week ahead of us, but it is stress I can and want to handle. I just want to be in our house with our stuff and our neighborhood and our family and our home. Sigh... It has been a long time in coming and we are thankful for everyone who helped us out during this trying time. We have learned a lot more about each other and a lot about what our relationship can withstand. I am happy to say that we seem to work better when under stress and trials. We really have learned to turn to each other and to the Lord as well. That doesn't mean there was no bickering here and there but we ultimately kept each other sane.

I am picturing myself sitting on my new sofa in my new family room with my boys playing in the play area and I'm calmly reading a book with no paperwork to do or anything to unpack.....Perhaps in a few weeks this dream will actually come true.

The last weekend...

Today we mark our last weekend before the big moving day. We spent the morning at Whitney's baby blessing for little Benjamin Hart Rockwell. That is such a distinguished name. He is such a cute baby with a little turned up nose! We left there and went back to PA and Roby and Pam's house.

We took our time driving and stopped a few times. I was not feeling well at all. I was sick a few times in the night and also at church. Ugh. I still feel sick but much much better.

Once we got home it was back to work. I feel like we are constantly on the phone getting little details worked out. I can't wait to have a day where we have nothing to take care of. No paper work, no lists, just waking up and relaxing. Won't it be nice. I also can't wait for Griffin to actually have a room and a home. I feel like he has been a little nomad since the day he was born, poor kid.

We have most of the details ironed out for the move and for the closing. I say that knowing tomorrow more will come up. Soon it will be a distant memory.

I'll send pics of the inside of the house tomorrow.

Flooring and other excitement

This morning I took the boys and we went to Jonestown to look at the house. They told us they were putting in the flooring today so I knew it would be open. I took my camera but when I got there it was out of batteries...Bummer.

Our neighbor was outside so I got to know her. She was really friendly and totally country Pennsylvania. I loved it. We talked for a little while. I then took a walk from my house to the post office and back. It took a total of 6 minutes, I think.

Inside the house is looking good. I haven't been in since we looked at it for the first time. I love it more than I remember. The floor plan is just perfect for us. The kitchen cabinets were in and looked great. We didn't get to pick them but I do really like them. We did pick the vinyl and the countertops in the kitchen and I was so happy with how well it all went together. The carpet wasn't in yet but seeing it in a big roll, I liked the color choice. All in all I couldn't have been happier with the results! Woo Hoo!

We will try and go back tomorrow and take some pictures. Otherwise it will have to wait until next Thursday when we have our walk through before settlement on Friday.

Today was a long day. I decided to shop for appliances. I wasn't sure if I would buy today but I knew I needed to decide soon. We need a fridge and a washer and dryer for our new place. I went to Lowes since they were having a sale and checked things out first. I found some great stuff but wanted to get to Sears first.

We then went to Arby's for lunch and headed out for more. We stopped at the Cingular store in Lebanon mall since I needed to change numbers and get a new phone. My new cell phone number is: 717-376-5583 Use it often! Ryan's number is currently the same as our old one: 301-792-5951 We needed to keep that number since we have given it to so many people who may need to get ahold of us in the coming weeks. We will change his in 2 or 3 weeks after all the junk has been taken care of.

After Cingular we went to Sears and I found better deals there. It was an ordeal at the store, though. Long story short, I had to call my bank and up the limit of my daily purchases on my card because a purchase of a sofa on Monday just went through today so I hit the limit. While I was on the phone Evan was biting and pinching Griffin and both of them were screaming at the top of their lungs. It was so much fun....HA! It's moments like those that make us strong and make us thank our parents. Needless to say it was past naptime and had been a very loooong morning.

I love our fridge. It is huge! It is one of the 25.5 cu.ft. capacity. It was on sale so I got a great deal. I went pretty basic on the washer and dryer. I figured I don't need the bells and whistles as long as my clothes are clean, I'm ok. The bad part is that they can't get our w/d to us until Oct. 25. That will be a long 10 days without laundry facilities. I'll need to look up the local laundromat and do laundry at Roby and Pam's the day before we leave.

Next la la week! I'm just a little excited!

So Big!

Griffin just rolled over for the first time. He did it both ways on really his first try. I put him down for tummy time and before I knew it he was flipping back and forth. What a big boy.

We also started him on rice cereal Saturday. He loves it. We can't get it into his mouth fast enough.

This morning I went to the open air market in Lancaster County. It was Amish country and was so beautiful. You can get anything you want there. Toys, vegetables, fruit, meat, baked goods, t-shirts, jewelry, and even chinese takeout. It was a fun, crazy and very crowded place. I think I will be getting most of my Christmas gifts there this year. Send your lists now!

Sitting Pretty.....

Ok, I tried and tried to get these pictures up last night and for some odd reason they just wouldn't post. So here they are a day late. This first picture is obviously the front of the house. I really love the red shutters and door. The house is more of a tan color than it looks here and the garage door is also a darker tan. I love it more every time I look at it. We just found out that the flooring will go in on Thursday so I might go up during the day to take a look. Perhaps if I go in the afternoon I will be able to see the finished product. That would be great. They also said they are right on target for next week. Yes, I said it, "NEXT WEEK!!!"

This other picture was taken from our driveway looking down the street. We live on a little hill about 6 houses into the devolopment on Twin Creeks Dr. The development is actually called Twin Creeks.

Today was a lazy day. We hung out at home most of the day. Griffin woke up last night at 4:30am and had a good feeding and then slept until 10:15. I was getting a bit nervous right before he woke up. Then he took a three and a half hour nap this afternoon. My kids are such sleepers.

Evan has decided that he wants to start to potty train even though we were planning on waiting until we were in our new house for that. It is funny, we were nervous about all the changes so we kept him in a crib and then one night at MeMe's house he climbed out and slept on the bed in his room and hasn't gone back. We also decided to wait on the potty training but he has decided it is time for that as well. He has gone pee pee on the potty a few times and we don't push it. If he asks, he goes. We will really train him in a few weeks when we are more settled and I can focus on it. He did have a tummy ache today and kept saying, "There are bubbles in my tummy." Which is what we say when Griffin is fussy after eating. He is such a fun kid.

I'm not fat for my height. I'm short for my weight.
