Lake Tobias

We are planning a trip to one of our favorite spots in PA, LAKE TOBIAS! It is this awesome wildlife park that has a great petting zoo area and this really cool safari trip in a school bus with the top cut off. It is a great spot. Last year we loved it, even though we went on seriously the hottest day of the year.

This year we are trying to beat the heat and go on May 24. I was thinking that it would be fun to invite all our blogging friends. I know some of you have come up from Maryland for this place before and I think it is definitely worth the trip. Mendy, I know I saw it on your blog last year.

Let me know if any of you would like to meet us there! The cost is also pretty low. The main admission fee is $3 for ages 3-12 and $4 for anyone older and the safari trip is $4 for 3-12 and $5 for anyone older. Plus, kids under 3 are free for all attractions. There is a reasonable concession stand there and also places for picnics if you decide to bring food.

The park opens at 10 and I think getting there around that time is good. That way we can hang out at the petting zoo, have some lunch, go on safari and head home by late afternoon.

Let me know if you're interested. If we get enough people I can get us a discount!

Colors

The other day we were out front playing with sidewalk chalk and Evan decided to write all of the colors that he was using. He starting with Pink, Purple, Peach, Green and Light Green. I turned away for awhile to watch Fin. When I turned back this is the word I saw on the driveway: (click on it to make it larger so you can really see it!)

He told me, "That spells pinkichpurple and it is a long, hard word. Whew! I think I'll put a rectangle around it because it is SO BIG!"

Seriously, isn't he the smartest child? Perhaps I'm a bit biased.....

Soccer!

Evan has been playing soccer this year and is less than a stellar player. What really counts, though, is that he is having a great time. Griffin can hardly wait to get on the field and is actually a pretty good kicker. Evan is younger and smaller than all the other kids on his team but the coach is great with him and they have all really grown to love him. The other parents think he is so cute and love all the silly comments he makes. He is constantly calling "Coach!" and holds her hand on the field. What a sweetie.

These were both so cute, I couldn't resist putting them up here.

Strange Happening....

So today we pulled in the driveway and I were unloading from a day of preschool and park (it is so gorgeous here by the way!) when we had something interesting happen. An older woman with long white hair and a sundress and sandals on started walking up the drive. She had an almost dazed look on her face and a silly grin to go with it. She handed me a penny and said, "Jesus loves you."

She stood there just looking at me and I wasn't sure what to say. I just said, "Thank you." and away she went.

Strange.

So FYI, I just didn't feel like blogging lately and that is why I have been gone for so long. I don't know why, but every time I would sign in to write a post I just felt like doing something else and so I did!

I guess I'm back now and hopefully will be posting more regularly....

Another One?!

This lovely cut was actually from about two weeks ago when
Fin took a tumble off of Daddy's back.
The scabs fell off last week and now we're at it again.....

It seemed like a good idea at the time.....

THESE STAIRS

PLUS THIS LITTLE CAR

PLUS THIS DAREDEVIL 2 YEAR OLD

EQUALS THIS FACE

Lately Fin is obsessed with cars of all sorts. He must be holding two at all times. He loves to crash them. He loves to send them off our loft or off the table or the bed or the counter or the tv, whatever. He also loves to ride his little car. For a few days he rode it everywhere he went. Yesterday he decided it would be faster and more fun to ride it down the stairs. I feel wonderfully blessed that all he came away with was a hurt nose and a bit tongue. He has some bruises on his forehead as well.

When it happened I was a bit hysterical and so happy that Ryan was there to help. I was crying before I even got to him and if it were up to me I would have taken him directly to the ER.

Whew! How do these kids survive?!

Growing up....

Saturday morning Ryan gave Evan some fresh pineapple. Evan was complaining because it had a little bit of brown on it. Ryan told him,

"If you eat it, it will put hair on your chest." And proceeded to show Evan the hair on his chest. Evan thought that was so cool and ate all his pineapple. When he was done he ran to the mirror pulling his collar down so he could see his chest. He exclaimed,

"I have a hair on my chest! See Mommy!"

He then wanted to call and tell everyone about this new finding and did call several people telling them first thing, "I have a hair on my chest!" Everyone thought it was hysterical.

He is a constant surprise.

Griffin is growing up so much lately. In some ways I am glad. It will be easier for when Oscar arrives but I am missing my baby boy. I have had a bit of withdrawals from that lately and try to soak up every minute.

Yesterday morning the boys took a long long bath. By the time they were done Fin was so tired. I took Evan out first and he went to get dressed. I wrapped Fin in a hooded towel and picked him up. He snuggled against my shoulder and climbed as close to me as he could get. Then he was kissing my neck and just snuggling. Oh, it was one of those beautiful moments that make all parenting worth it. He smelled so fresh and clean and was so content in my arms. We went and rocked that way for a little while before I got him dressed and put him down for a long nap.

Last night we met up with Ryan's sister, Lindsay, and her family in Gettysburg for FHE. They live in MD and we thought it would be a good meeting point for us to get together. We saw the Horton movie and also had some dinner at the outlets. It was so fun. The kids just love to play together and it is always nice to see them. We can't wait to go down to MD next week to see the CIRCUS! We just love the circus!

Ryan will be leaving for 4 days this week to do some training in MA for a new job as a boy scout camp director. I am a bit nervous. I'm not used to having him gone for any length of time. He has never had to travel before and this will be a new thing for us. I'm sure we'll be fine but I just hope he gets home safe and sound.

Life keeps us as busy as ever and happy as ever. Things are good, crazy and wild but that's the way we like it!

I'm not fat for my height. I'm short for my weight.
