Our sweet boy turned three last week and we went to Lake Tobias again this year to celebrate. He simply loves to see the animals and really enjoys making their sounds and trying to find them in their cages.
This birthday was bittersweet for me because there were things that really brought to my attention his disability. I feel that there were so many things that he should understand but didn't. He really didn't understand that it was his birthday or the concept of a birthday party that was for HIM. He just knew we were singing and sang with us. He enjoyed everything we did but simply did not fully understand it. It was just tough for me.
That said I simply loved watching him. On his birthday we got him a much loved lightning mcqueen toy. His favorite character is Frank, the big farm vehicle that chases Lightning, and this pack came with a Frank toy. He was extremely thrilled and so much fun to watch.
Then at Lake Tobias he was just so excited about everything. He is pleasant and sweet and so loveable. There are not many people who Griffin cannot charm. When he saw the alligators he screamed out, "Hey, adigtors, wake up! It's me, Griffin!" What a fun day it was.
This is my favorite picture of the day. What gorgeous eyes.
Griffin, we love you so much!
